]]> Today’s video lesson will be a gentle introduction to Viennese Waltz with an American Smooth twist.

American Smooth refers to the American style of dancing the Ballroom dances. This tends to favour more of an exhibition style of dance. Partners often release out of hold and can often let go entirely.

The Dance – Viennese Waltz American Smooth

The Viennese Waltz is traditionally a rotational dance that moves around the outside of the floor.

Adding in elements of American Smooth though allows you to introduce some flair into the dance, and can often act as a breather too.

Just make sure you’re near the middle, or a corner, so that you aren’t hanging around when other dancers are coming hurtling towards you!

Our intention is to ease you in with a simplified (and more compact) version of the Reverse Turn, before trying an Open Break and an Underarm Turn to the Right. We’ll then be looking at the Explosion with a Fan Ending before adding in some Change of Places.

FitSteps ClassLearnToDance Adult Ballroom and Latin American Beginner Classes are designed for complete beginners, with only a few basic steps covered per dance and you can attend either with a partner or on your own.

We cover the basics of 12 popular dances in rotation, incorporating Waltz, Rumba, Foxtrot, Samba, Tango, Jive, Quickstep, Cha Cha, Viennese Waltz, Salsa, Argentine Tango & Merengue.

]]> Learn To Dance LogoIt is with great regret that we have decided to move our Thursday night classes from our Eton venue.  Eton was the first hall we launched LearnToDance in, and has been a regular class for over 8 years now, however parking over the years has increasingly been a limiting factor and we have come to the decision to move to a venue that comes with plenty of its own parking.

From Thursday 10th July our new venue will be Desborough College, Shoppenhangers Road, Maidenhead, SL6 2QB.

We will continue to have a beginner class at 8pm and Improver class at 9pm, but we will also be introducing another FitSteps class at 7pm for those that might prefer a slightly earlier class than our existing Tuesday night Eton Wick class at 8.30pm.

We hope our existing Thursday night students will follow us to our new venue, but if it is a bit further out for you don’t forget we still have our Sunday night classes in Eton Wick or Mondays in Burnham.

]]> Zumba Gold LogoFor those that haven’t been to our Zumba Gold classes recently you may have missed the announcements over the last few weeks about a change in the start time.

We got a lot of feedback that the 3pm start time was difficult for those that were grandparents, as you were often involved in helping out with school pickup duties etc.

At LearnToDance we always strive to listen to our students and adapt to what works best for you, as such we have moved the start time of our Zumba Gold classes to 2.15pm which should hopefully be better for those that found the 3pm start time too late.

If you haven’t been to one of our Zumba Gold classes for a while feel free to come along, the new start time commences from today (6th November).

Remember our classes take place at Magnet Leisure Centre, Holmaneaze, Maidenhead, SL6 8AW in their upstairs dance studio near the cafe.

Zumba Gold is a low impact version of Zumba designed primarily for those in the 50+ age range, but all are welcome to these classes.
