News & Events Coming Up

New Parking Restrictions

There are new parking restrictions in force at the Cherry Orchard.

Only the first 30 minutes of parking are now free (previously 2 hours) between the hours of 7am-7pm. There will still be no parking for the general public after 7pm.

Learn To Dance students will still receive free parking so long as they enter their number plate in the tablet provided.

This means that every student will need to enter their number plate when they arrive, but still only once per day.

Halloween Social

Our Halloween Social takes place on Friday 25th October. Doors open 7.30pm with dancing through to 10pm.

Dressing up is not compulsory but appreciated.

Tickets cost £8pp and advance booking is recommended.

Ceilidh Live Band Event

On Friday 31st January 2025 we’ll be welcoming a live Ceilidh Band, Nedron’s Jig, to the studio for a fabulous Ceilidh night.

There’ll be a caller to instruct us in the various dances and it promises to be an entertaining evening.

Glastonbury Dance Weekend

Our 2025 Glastonbury Dance Weekend is on sale. The weekend’s dance will be Viennese Waltz, with a Viennese Ball theme to the Saturday night.

Places costs £225pp, with an early bird booking discount of £15 if you pay in full by 30th November.

18th Anniversary Party

Back in April we celebrated 18 years since the formation of Learn To Dance!

We are so grateful to all our students for their continued support. It’s great to say that we are finally back to full strength after all these post-COVID years.

In fact we’re already starting to make preparations for our grand 20 year anniversary in 2026!!!

It was an intense set of sessions back in May with an afternoon of Latin American workshops with Kristina Rihanoff.

There were a lot of technical elements for the students to take away and work on, along with a few fun sequences they could add in to their existing repertoire.

Our next Strictly workshop day is Sunday 10th November with Erin Boag.

Simply Swing Live Band Event

Our first ever live band event at Learn To Dance took place on Friday 28th June.

It was amazing to be able to dance to live music in the studio and we received amazing feedback from the event.

We look forward to welcoming them back hopefully next year!

Our 2024 Winter Dinner and Dance promises a delightful evening that blends elegance with entertainment. Vienna Dance Weekend

Following just a few years of restricted travel we are ecstatic to be able to reintroduce our Vienna dance weekend in 2025.

Flights from London Heathrow, transfers and three nights of 4* accommodation. We will be visiting the Johann Strauss ball for an Gala evening featuring a three course menu followed by a ball with a mixture of Ballroom, Latin and traditional Viennese Waltzes and Polkas.

Flavia Cacace Workshops

Back in February we were honoured to welcome Strictly Legend Flavia Cacace to our dance studio for an afternoon of Argentine Tango workshops.

It was a really fun and informative afternoon and you can see a highlight reel on our Instagram page (full gallery to be uploaded).

Next up is Kristina Rihanoff in May for a morning of Latin American dance workshops!

We hope to have Erin Boag revisit us in November and we should have confirmation of this next month.

Glastonbury Dance Weekend

Our ever-popular Glastonbury Dance Weekend was a great success, with some wonderful Bollywood themed outfits for the Saturday night.

Coupled with that we had put together a great Cha Cha Cha routine that started simple(ish) enough, before progressing to a tricky but fun routine.

Our Bournemouth Dance weekend in October is available to book now.

Good Friday Afternoon Tea

On Friday 29th March we held our annual Good Friday Afternoon Tea.

This gave us the perfect opportunity to try out some five-tier cake stands we’d purchased, and given the amount of food our caterer provided I’m glad we did!

It was a wonderful start to the Easter weekend and we look forward to our next catered event, our Spring dinner & dance in May.

Relaunch of YouTube lessons

Emma and Antony have relaunched their YouTube video lessons, and yes with the unavoidable outtakes at the end of each video too!

Starting initially with companion videos to our Beginner Waltz course we plan to expand into other lessons as time allows.

Charity Silent Social

Last year’s Silent Social for Comic Relief was such a huge hit that we couldn’t wait to have another one! We will be repeating the event on Friday 15th March.

All participants are issued with headsets that can tune into one of three channels: Ballroom, Latin American, General.

Places cost £20pp and are available to book now.

Good Friday Afternoon Tea

Following the success of last year’s Good Friday Afternoon Tea we are making this a permanent fixture.

The event will take place on Friday 29th March but we are just waiting on confirmation of final costings before we can make it available to book.

Our ever-popular Bournemouth Dance Weekend was a great success, with some wonderful masks for the masquerade ball.

Unfortunately the dance floor in the suite we hire is not being well-maintained and we are currently looking for a new venue for this year’s break.

We hope to have something arranged within the next month and more details will be released when available.

The Valentine evening features a 2 course meal provided by local private chef Dan’s Kitchen. Plus a welcome drink of bubbly on arrival, and dancing to romantic-themed music.

There are three options for your Valentine Dinner & Dance main course so please make sure you select the correct option when booking. These will then be passed directly to the caterer upon number confirmation. If you have any special dietary requirements please choose that option and send us the details.

Normally we spend 30-45mins teaching that month’s sequence dance, and then the rest of the session is dedicated to Ballroom, Latin & Sequence practice.

The workshop costs £15pp and includes free tea & coffee (but please bring your own mugs).

Halloween Social

Friday 27th October will be our Halloween Social. Dressing up is not compulsory, but greatly appreciated.

The social will run from 7.30pm-10pm and costs £8pp.

Our Salsa course started last Monday but you are welcome to join from this Monday. This will be the last chance to join this initial course, there may be opportunities to join at an extension.

We were teasing something earlier this week, but if you’ve read the ‘News’ summary you already know more details!

That’s right, Erin Boag will be coming to Learn To Dance on Sunday 12th November to provide some fun and informative Ballroom workshops.

Salsa Course

Our next One Dance Course will be Salsa, starting from Monday 11th September and is available to book now.

Places cost £50pp and the course runs in 6 week blocks, extended if there is enough demand.

Sally-Ann Cha Cha Sequence & Social

Our next Sequence & Social workshop will be the Sally-Ann Cha Cha on Sunday 24th September.

Normally we spend 30-45mins teaching that month’s sequence dance, and then the rest of the session is dedicated to Ballroom, Latin & Sequence practice.

Halloween Social

Friday 27th October will be our Halloween Social. Dressing up is not compulsory, but greatly appreciated.

The social will run from 7.30pm-10pm and costs £8pp.

Winter Dinner & Dance

Come along for a winter dinner and dance at our Cherry Orchard Studio. Bubbly reception, a two course meal, followed by dancing.

£37.50 per person, deadline for booking 27th October.

You can choose from Roast Beef Sirloin, Supreme of Salt Cod or a Vegetarian Garden Pie for your main. Dessert will be a Raspberry Cheesecake with Limoncello Ice Cream.

Erin Boag Ballroom Workshops

Before we officially announce this on the website we wanted to give those of you who follow our weekly emails a chance to book before the rush!

On Sunday 12th November Erin Boag will be joining us to provide an afternoon of Ballroom dance workshops.

There will be four workshops, one for each dance, starting from 2pm until 6pm. You can book each workshop for £20pp, or to book for more than one we offer discounted options.

HOWEVER as a special early-bird offer you can book all four for £60 up until Sunday 17th September.
