Beginner Jive Course

There will be a beginner Jive course (triple-step not Rock and Roll) starting from Sunday 8th September at 6pm.

The four week course costs £35pp and is available to book now.

Quickstep Course

We will have a 6-week Quickstep course starting from Monday 9th September.

The course will start with a focus on the basics, and improving your technique, before moving on to a variety of figures for navigating the floor.

The course costs £50pp and is available to book now. To reserve a space for another person please visit the Full Booking System.

Foxtrot American Smooth Course

We will be continuing with the theme of American Smooth in September, this time focusing on the Foxtrot.

With this course we will show you a number of moves and figures that you can introduce into your regular Foxtrot (or entirely in place of) to get around the floor with some added pizazz!

The 6-week course costs £50pp and is available to book now. To reserve a space for another person please visit the Full Booking System.

You do not need to have attended the previous American Smooth courses.

Glastonbury Dance Break

Next year’s Glastonbury Dance Break will take place from Friday 7th – Sunday 9th March 2025.

This break will focus on Viennese Waltz, and the theme of the Saturday night will be ‘Viennese Ball’.

The break costs £225pp but you can save £15pp if you book and pay in full by 30th November 2024.

We only have 8 solo rooms remaining already!

No Tea Dance on Friday 9th August

There will be no Friday afternoon tea dance on Friday 9th August. Tea Dances on Monday 5th and 12th August are unaffected and the sessions will resume on Friday 16th August.

Summer Dinner & Dance

Our summer dinner & dance takes place on Friday 9th August. Doors open at 7pm with food ready around 7.30pm/7.45pm.

The menu includes a selection of meats, halloumi kebabs, five side dishes and a summer dessert.

The evening costs £40pp and includes a welcome drink. We only have 3 places remaining! Bookings close Friday 2nd August.

This morning was filled with technical, but fun, workshops covering the four main Latin American dances. We’ll have a highlight reel later in the week. There was some great feedback and we’re looking forward to arranging future workshops like this.

Upcoming Courses

We have made the decision to cancel the Beginner Rumba course that was due to start tomorrow evening. Unfortunately there just wasn’t enough interest to make this course viable.

With that in mind we also need a few more people booked in for the Bachata course that is due to start on Monday night, so if you were planning on taking part please book in ASAP!

The American Smooth course extension starts on Wednesday 22nd May. This extension will be looking at some fun Waltz sequences you can bring in to your standard Waltz routines.

Simply Swing Live Band Event

For our June social we have invited a wonderful Ballroom and Latin American band, Simply Swing, to come to the studio.

The evening will feature 3 x 40minute live sets, with recorded music provided during the breaks.

Bournemouth Dance Weekend

Our Bournemouth Dance Weekend will take place at The Queens Hotel & Spa this year from Friday 4th-Sunday 6th October.

As well as DB&B our students will also have access to their indoor pool and jacuzzi, as well as discounted spa treatments.

This year’s break will be Quickstep & Jive with a ‘Guys & Molls’ theme to the Saturday night.

The cost will be £315pp, with a £70 single person supplement.

There are also upgrades available (based on 2 sharing) of £20pp to a Supreme Double or £40pp to a Junior Suite.

We only have 1 Supreme Doubles and 1 Junior Suite remaining. All Solo Rooms are now fully booked. All other rooms are currently fully booked but we may be able to get a couple more rooms added to our allocation.

YouTube…The Waltz Reverse Turn

Last week’s video looked at the Reverse Turn in the Waltz (we didn’t get a chance to video this week). We also then show you how to use this, combined with previous videos, to make your way around the dance floor.

Silent Social

Following the success of last year’s Silent Social we are pleased to repeat this again on Red Nose Day, Friday 15th March 2024.

Places cost £20pp and all profits are donated to charity. Last year we raised over £600 for Comic Relief!

We’re over 25% booked at the moment. Also thank you to the students who contacted us to point out they couldn’t actually book online (we have now corrected the error in the setup!)

Silent Social

Following the success of last year’s Silent Social we are pleased to repeat this again on Red Nose Day, Friday 15th March 2024.

Every participant is issued a set of headphones that can tune into 3 separate channels. One channel will be playing Ballroom music, one Latin and one ‘general’.

Places cost £20pp and all profits are donated to charity. Last year we raised over £600 for Comic Relief!

Good Friday Afternoon Tea

October Dance Break Provisional Dates

Those who regularly attend our October Bournemouth Dance Break know that unfortunately the hotel fell below expected standards over the last few years.

As such we began the hunt for a new location for our October dance weekend. This year will be Quickstep & Jive with a ‘Guys & Molls’ theme to the Saturday night.

Our initial impressions of a replacement hotel have been very positive, though we would have preferred a bigger dance floor.

However we are seriously considering booking the hotel as they potentially have our original weekend of 4th October available.

Charity Silent Social

Last year’s Silent Social for Comic Relief was such a huge hit that we couldn’t wait to have another one! We will be repeating the event on Friday 15th March.

All participants are issued with headsets that can tune into one of three channels: Ballroom, Latin American, General.

Places cost £20pp and are available to book now.

Good Friday Afternoon Tea

Following the success of last year’s Good Friday Afternoon Tea we are making this a permanent fixture.

The event will take place on Friday 29th March but we are just waiting on confirmation of final costings before we can make it available to book.

Bournemouth Dance Weekend

Our ever-popular Bournemouth Dance Weekend was a great success, with some wonderful masks for the masquerade ball.

Unfortunately the dance floor in the suite we hire is not being well-maintained and we are currently looking for a new venue for this year’s break.

We hope to have something arranged within the next month and more details will be released when available.

Erin Boag Ballroom Workshops

Back in November we were honoured to welcome Strictly Legend Erin Boag to our dance studio for an afternoon of workshops.

We had excellent feedback from the students that attended and we’ll be expanding the range of guest instructor workshops that we offer.

Next up is Flavia Cacace in February!
